About the Photographer:
I love to shoot macro; bugs, birds, animals, plants and flowers.  I also want to get into shooting wide angle; architecture and landscape.  I was never one to tote my camera to family functions for snapshots (yep I get flack all the time) nor do I have an interest in snapping the man on the street but I love to take concert photos.  I need to really learn to shoot well and consistent manually for this is my weakest area.  I have been told by friends that I have an “eye”.  I don’t know if I do or don’t but I have always seen pieces of my environments in a frame, a vignette so to speak, if that makes any sense.  I never knew what the rules for composition were until about a month ago.  But I looked over my photos and on many occasions I have followed them loosely while other times to the tee.  So maybe there is some truth to their comments.  At 43 it is now the time in my life to learn and grow with a camera in my hand.

History:
I shot over the years with many sub-par cameras some even broken in one way or another.  When dating my husband, his gift(s) to me were the start of a Nikon SLR film system.  The N8008s and initial lens in 11/93 a flash and another lens by 12/94.  By 95 we were married and life took over and free time was well N/A, sick elders and job went from 40-60 hrs.  The job was up to 70-80 hrs by 2001 and I developed sever tendonitis in both elbows.  I had surgery and well the right arm is worse than before.

Forward to April 2004.  After much therapy I have some of my life back!  So I pulled out the Nikon but it is now too heavy for me to use especially with the flash and big zoom.  While I was waiting for the guy to retrieve my pictures at the shop I started to look at the cameras.  I spent $96 dollars on that three roll adventure.  Now that we live on one income money is WAY tighter but I wanted to shoot again and worse than ever.  So in September I set out to buy a cheap little digital but that was not to be, I came home with a Konica-Minolta Z3.  All I can say is that I’M IN LOVE with shooting digital.  In October my friend gave me her Elements 2, way too complex for her.  I was not unfamiliar with Adobe I have used Photo Home since 99.

This April a friend of mine handed me her digital Rebel at a concert, I had a way better seat than she.  It was light enough for my arms and a joy to run around with.  My Z3 has been fun but is just not enough camera for me.  That night I took 45 lousy pictures on my camera in 1.5 hours but got 143 awesome to good shots with her camera in 30 mins.  It took me 15 mins just to get used to where the zoom ring on the lens was!

So now that I have tasted the fruit I'm jonesing REAL BAD for a dSLR!  I love the macro modes on the Z3 but indoors especially in low light like concerts it just sucks!  I hope to have a dSLR by this time next year.  I thought I would have had it by now but my dentist (who by the way has a studio in his office) got that money instead.

June 2006
This year the camera store got my money, I finally got a dSLR, a Nikon D200.  Let the fun and learning begin!
