- In New York 57th street between 5th and 6th avenue is this skyscraper with a curved reflecting front. - I tried to capture some of these reflections. - Landscape orientation, 80 mm equ. including some of the trees along the building - Landscape orientation 210 mm equ. including some foliage on the other side of the street - Same shot but portrait orientation 210 mm equ. - Some workers, 135 mm equ. - Another try at 125 mm equ. - Head on shot, but didn't get the angle quite right. Sunset in Sharjah

During a short stop in Sharjah, in the aftermath of a sand/dust storm the sky looked promising for a nice sunset. At the end of the afternoon I left our hotel (which has a spectacular open lobby inside) Walking past the nearby mosque..... I noticed the following sign It seems emancipation hasn't had much success here yet ;-) Continuing along the Corniche, I looked for a spot to capture the coming sunset. Know your Autofocus

This blog deals with how the autofocus (AF) system found on most non-DSLR digital cameras works. These are the cameras that have a continuous live preview of the subject, either on LCD or EVF (electronic viewfinder). The sensor is basically a videochip, which is used for many tasks amongst which also AF. These cameras normally use the contrast detect AF, as opposed to the more expensive phase detect AF.
