Is it time?

Seems like the Pig is functional...

It's been a long time since I've engaged in significant photo discussions.  I last uploaded to TE a year ago next month (except for the National Geographic shot).  And I'm feeling a big need.

It seems like the clubs are functional enough to be used.  There's cleanup to be done and lots of features (I imagine) to be added, but perhaps this one bit is good enough?

How do the two of you feel about opening up to a few new members?  I'm thinking about some TT recruiting.

I think the time is about right for some selective recruiting - express that it is still a beta.

There are lots of features still to add - but bug fixing and the photo blog for members will be focus for the near future.

Your call, obviously, but can I have a few more hours to hunt down the missing content and then we can review? I'm not sure how much there is so I'd like to have a nose and see what I can find... Anyhow, gonna start right now. brb.

I'll post into the sticky so they're all in one place and easy to see. #3 on that list would be really nice to get fixed.

I think I'm all bugged out :) Nothing major, but lots of nice little fixes that have really tidied the site up, awesome job Ali!

I'm with you two, more people will find more bugs and have more ideas on useability and will start to build the site into a community,

G'night y'all,

Andy

Ok - I'm happy with making the site into a community :) The list of bugs in the sticky thread will continue to be worked at... but I think things are ready to bring a few more into the fold.

Great!

Any thoughts about where to find some 'high quality' people?

I'd rather start with a few hand-picked but if we don't have any available would the Computer/Camera forum at LP/TT be the place to advertise?

I've had posts deleted on the TT where I've placed url's in the post - so tread carefully. But then travelblog site is competing with one of LP's "services" - they make $7 per signup to mytripjournal - the posts disappeared roughly the same time as it was introduced.

I plan to put a advert in my footer - but do it subtly - like:

Jeber.com (Beta): Eastern Europe Photography Club - My Gallery

- the other branch I post on ;)

Here's some code for the TT

I think enough people will be intrigued to take a look...

You've been pretty blatant in your advertising on TT.  They're on to you.  ;o)

(Don't take it personally.  You might think about creating another account and being less obvious.)

I'll stick a link in my sig on TT in a day or two.  I want to get the logo and welcome message fixed first.

And Adrian should be back soon.

Like about 5 other people... writing - I heard that XYZ site was the best, and only ever posting to link to their sites? - your probably right - but I dislike the way the some other guys promote their sites so underhandedly.

That worked.  Thanks.

Now - any feedback about other aspects of the Pig?  (I wasn't sure about the previous logo.  I'm a bit 'hardened' as a result of growing up on a farm and lots of travel to exotic places.)

Attempted humor off-putting?

Need more photos?  (Include some of my best from TE?)

Any ideas to make it more enticing?

I figure that some people are going to take a quick look and most will pass on by.  I'd like to snag a few.

Yes... put in your personal gallery also.

I still think a sub-gallery strategy works - kind of prompts people to go - "oh I have an image that would work there"

Maybe an SEA, Americas, Europe etc gallery? If I'm not convincing you on this... I'll drop it.

Mention on the club description that workshops are a major focus - mention that images will be encouraged to be critiqued, and new revisions will be uploaded.

Maybe once you have some images - use the [cimage=123] code to embed some thumbnails on the front page of the pig...
