Setting up a new club

NOTE: this is nowhere near done at all - it's missing whole bits and what there is needs a lot of checking for tone and content. At some point I'll want a guinea pig too. However, any feedback on it would be good so I can keep it in mind while I do the rest. I thought that it might be good for SEO if we had a page that mentioned 'photo club' and how to set one up several times, but I haven't tweaked it for that yet. I have to go work on my  own site now, signing off for the day.

ps don't be polite, just tell me how to make it better instead :)
==========================================================

What should I do before I set the club up?

Conceptual

See if any clubs like your planned one already exist and see if it would be better to join one rather than start a new one. The answer maybe that one does exist, but maybe it's full or the atmosphere isn't quite what you're looking for. Jeber are happy for you to start as many new clubs as you like, but we'd like everyone to get as much from the site as they can, so please have a look first.

Ideally you should have been a member of a few other Jeber clubs before you start your own, it's not essential but it would help if you know how the Jeber interface works and how people interact on the site. If you haven't joined any other clubs here, but have used other forum and feedback sites before and are comfortable that you know how they work then feel free to go ahead and create your own club.

Work out what type of club you want to be in - do you like to have 100s of people posting new images so that you can see a range of styles and interpretations or would you prefer to have a smaller, more focused club, which can often provide better feedback for its members?

Do you want to invite people, or will you be open to anyone that shares your interests?

Practical

Decide on a name that isn't already in use and write as accurate and concise a description for your club as you can - a little humour is always good.

Create a logo/icon for your club that is reasonably representative and that won't offend anyone that isn't part of your club - it should be suitable for viewing by all ages in every country of the world. That means keep it clean!

Creating a new Gallery

Why
Great! You have your new club set up and the world is right now joining up ( or anxiously awaiting its invite ) so where are all those great photos of red 1983 traffic lights going to go....? They need organising, and that's where 'Club Galleries' come in. With Galleries you can get a bit more specific in your XXXX. If you're a real world photo club and run a monthly competition then you can easily have a new gallery each month, and close it once the date is past. That way everyone can see past submissions and who won, you can even run them as a workshop then and see how other people would have approached the winning shot. If you had a real world workshop or seminar then you can extend it online with a club workshop.

How to
from your 'control panel' select the admin link from 'Your clubs' list. On the right hand side of the page select 'Club Galleries' and then 'Create New Galleries'

Nice start, good advice.

I see two pages.  One of the advice stuff that you're written and another that can be printed out and followed as one goes through the steps.
