Photographers Note:
Hong Kong is a fascinating mix of the old orient and an international commercial hub.

Here we see a traditional style Chinese "Junk" plying the waters in front of the highrise skyline of Hong Kong's Central district.

The warmth of the lighting from the sunset behind the towers completes the scene.

In reality the boat is part of the burgeoning tourist industry and does harbour cruises, but you wouldn't know from first glance; and that's part of the charm of HK. Remember, things aren't always what they seem!

I love this picture. Only one comment though. The junk seems to fall somewhere between being the focus of the picture and a silhouette. Is it possible to bring more detail out on it?

Thanks Russ!

The only problem I can see with bringing out more detail on the boat is that it'll blend in with the background significantly more as the tonalities would match. I actually have a bracket +2EV up from this one, so it shouldn't be too tricky.

Fine job, Adrian.  I think the appeal of this shot is found in the smoothness of the boat in opposition to the texture of the waves and skyline.
