Hey, you're not going to make me homesick by showing me pictures of England's green and pleasant land! I've boosted the colours a bit (too much?), cropped it to a square and got rid of the dark branches on the top right. I also rotated as I felt the house was falling down to the left!

I find greens the most annoying colour to get right.
I think you've improved them Russ in the revision and i like the crop. Wasn't a fan of the overhanging branch.

But those greens.... maybe it was as dark as Bobs original????

Perhaps as dark as Bob's original, but maybe with a small saturation bump? Also try applying an ND grad to the sky, might be interesting :)

OK, here's an attempt to make it a nicer day in Merry Old....

I like the branch.  (Didn't care for how it hung down over the edge of the ridge so I trimmed it.)  I think it gives more depth to the image.  YMMV & that's OK.  ;o)

Now that I look at the versions side by side I like the first bottom crop better.  The way the foreground ridge line hits the corner.

My goodness, Bob...
That's the image of the Shire if ever I saw it.  Nicely done...You captured an archetype that I would guess exists in many of our minds.  I like the second revision.  The shadow on the top of the hill looks more dramatic, IMO, and the greens are greener.  I like Russ' revision a lot too, in what it does tot he foreground, but I am more keen on the landscape crop than on the square.
