Photographers Note:
I took this photo on the way home from a car rally in the hills around home. I saw 4 emus near the road and managed to get this shot with some fog/mist in the valley behind the emu.

Nice shot. Wonder what it would have looked like if you had snapped it so its humped back was perfectly aligned with that hill behind it. The shape seems eerily similar!

Ah i see what you mean.....
My problem was an electric fence between me and the Emu. I see Kangaroos all the time, but Emus are a bit rarer.

Messed with the Shadow/Highlight tool, adjusted Levels to spread the DR a bit, sharpened, and cropped.

I think it's better that you didn't line up the peak/hump.  Had you done so you would have chopped off the head of the emu with the ridge line - head would have been above, body below.

I like the original image - I particularly like the way the hump is echoed in the hill in the background. Colour balance is perhaps a tad cool, try a slight warming - I suspect it'll make the grass in the foreground better.

Also, consider cropping to make the emu/hill much more significant elements in the scene. Would demonstrate, but currently only have Paint and a non-calibrated system to play with.

Ahh, the perils of beta testing - today's choice of poison is Longhorn beta3.

aah thanks Bob.
Thats what i was after.
I'm quite happy with the framing. It was quite deliberate, although i didn't see the hump/hill thing. but i got the angle to get the peak of the hill the Emu was on and the fog behind.
The trees on the hill also look like feathery edges on the Emu.

Personally one of my favourite wildlife shots I've taken. It just needed some tweaking, which to be honest i'd had not time to do....
I'll fiddle with the full size version i think.

How about producing your best version and posting it?

Seems to me that we need to be posting the best we are capable of posting.  Part of the learning process.

I have a request in to Ali to change the way images are added to the club gallery.  I'd like it to be nicely polished acorns as opposed to the "starting" versions.
