Hi Dave, welcome.

I don't see anything that needs improvement myself.  It's a well done shot.

My complaint would be with whomever decided to put the statue right there.  ;o)  Seems to me that the superposition of the statue in front of the church is just busy.  But you've shot it well.

Hi Dave,
I love the symmetrical shape of this one. I cropped the image to keep the "non symmetrical" (is that a word?) parts out of it. What do you think? I agree with Bob regarding the statue - just don't think of photographers do they!:)
David.

I like this crop.  The portrait orientation seems to go with the 'vertical-ness' of the building.  Cropping a bit off the bottom wouldn't hurt (IMO).

As for shooting this scene.  I see two other ways to go.  First, concentrate on the statue and use a much shallower DOF to let the building blur out.  Second, get behind the statue and use a really wide lens.  You might have to use a 'tilt and shift' or a perspective shift when editing.

Thanks - like I just posted a moment ago, cropping hasn't been much on my radar - gotta re-think that one.  There was no way to get any higher at this location - only a coffee shop with a tarp roof as I recall. And no chance to get in closer, the gates are closed at this park.  The clouds were a result of a massive storm system moving through (mid-May 2004).

Higher might have worked well.  If you were shooting this one "with a bigger budget" I can see where a very tall ladder, maybe a cherry picker, would have changed the angle and made it work nicely.

It's a good picture.  It's just fun to think about how it could be done differently.
