Just for sake of argument I tried manipulating your picture a bit.  As our previous dialoge shows, I am a novice at manipulating pictures so this was purely an attempt to try using the new skills I am picking up.  I warmed up the color a little which seemed to brighten the skin tones a little bit and cropped the picture to really focus on the father and child.  Don't know if its better, but its a little different.

Ok, scratch that, when I cropped it it made it too small to post, so erase what I just said!  Opps, sorry!

You can make the cropped image larger with your editing program.  In Photoshop Elements it's under Image -> Resize -> Image size.  And one generally needs to resharpen after changing the image size.

Also, did you download the version on this page or the "full size" version?  The full size gives one a bit more with which to work.

Good subject, messy background - it's not adding anything, so consider blurring it a fraction. I guess you were wide open?

f-5.6.  Had to look at the EXIF data on the page to recall....   ;o)

Good point.  I did blur/darken a bit.  I'll try more.  After a second look I think I need to lighten faces as well.
