I like the way you've framed this.  We generally don't see two balloons resting against each other.  We've also seen a lot of balloon pictures and I think that's working against you here.

The puppies we usually se are so bright and colorful that we're used to see 'close to intense' colors and you image doesn't provide them.  It's a little underexposed - the balloon part.  The sky is a bit overexposed (or it was a gray day).  And it seems like the surfaces that you shot weren't in direct sunlight, put partially shaded.

I tried increasing the saturation a bit after adjusting levels.  I couldn't push it up much without getting posterization.  I added a bit of blue to the sky.

Yes I'm disappointed by the colours of the balloons too. It seemed to be a bit hazy from bush fire smoke and also foggy that morning.
I thought i'd try some different framing which to me is the aspect i like most about the shot.
