| Peter A (Peter) Msg: #2 April 17th 2007 02:15:45 | Well....there is that OOF patch right in the center of the frame. Am I getting warmer? | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Justin Watson (Justin) Msg: #4 April 18th 2007 12:20:44 | I don't like to agree with bob all the time, but i think this time i will have to again. everything else about the shot is pretty good. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #5 April 18th 2007 16:36:49 | How about we discuss how to get good shots in these circumstances? It's a type of shot that makes me work hard. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Adrian Warren (AdrianW) Msg: #6 April 20th 2007 01:46:50 | Nice shot! A useful technique, if you're out of DOF, but using a tripod - z-stacking. Take a series of shots bracketed for focus. Then you use CombineZM to merge them. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #7 April 20th 2007 02:27:49 | These are the shots that drove me to a dSLR. Because I needed a better viewfinder. Given a better viewfinder (something like the KM A2) and a small sensor these shots should be a snap. Small sensors give one huge amounts of DOF, but if you can't control the focus point then you're in a world of hurt. My working hypothesis is that if you can't get it all in focus, go for the foremost bit. Let stuff blur back from there. This shot is the backwards version of that. Sharp focus seems to be on the background petals. BTW, what was the light source? If I had some tulips I think I'd be out there with some aluminum foil to lay on the ground for a reflector and give this shot a go. But all I've got is daffodils trying to fight their way out from under the (mid-April) snow. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Adrian Warren (AdrianW) Msg: #8 April 20th 2007 02:38:05 | Conversely, here most daffodils are long gone, and the tulips are past their prime too... | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #9 April 20th 2007 03:03:45 | We're getting some weird weather. A thought floated among the meteorologists types is that airborne pollution from China is reflecting off sunlight from the Pacific and delaying the formation of the Pacific high. That's allowing systems to continue to sneak down from Alaska. Snowed here the last two nights in a row. I Want Spring!!! | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Adrian Warren (AdrianW) Msg: #10 April 20th 2007 15:51:30 | We've had an uncommonly nice and dry spring - although I'm getting worried about water already. Our water companies usually put a hosepipe ban on by August anyway, but there's far less surface water around than usual at the moment. Places where I'd expect to walk in mud, it's dry already. It's more like August than April here. It is an El Nino year though, so weird weather would be normal ;) | |||||||||||||||||||||
