I like what Bob's edit does to 90% of the image - everywhere except the rocks. So taking a similar route I've tried to keep the rocks as close to the original capture but increase the contrast in the rest of the image. I'm not sure if the crop has added anything - but interesting to see where images can go with simple changes.

Thanks Bob and Ali,
I like what you have both done. It adds a richness to the photo that was missing. It seems to be deeper, though I think the brightening of the rocks takes away from the rest of the scene somewhat. When taking the photo I was tying to make the audience want to look around the other side of the rock.
I am not sure how to make these adjustments myself (to the colouring) and having played with my program (Photostudio 5) I seem to make a balls up of it all! Never mind - I'll keep trying.
Thanks again,
David

Hi David,

Nice beach feeling - not quite warm enough for a swim though :-)

I didn't do much with the colours of the image, just whacked up the saturation some - I think Bob and Ali did a better job than I of the colouring.

What I was trying to do was, based on your comment of taking people around the rock, trying to pull the eye along the shore a little. I have something of an addiction of putting diagonal lines into corners as a way of trying to pull people's eyes places and so that's what I did here. Amazingly you had 3 diagonals to work with - nice! So with the water, the footsteps and ( maybe pushing it a bit :) the clouds in the top right your eyes should be lead around the rock. However, my eyes don't stop at the rock, they fly on past up the coast so it's not a complete success. Anyhow it's another take to look at :)
