I assume you probably have some more closely shot/cropped images. I do like this photo though because it shows the way of life, how they get the bananas there, how they get them off the boat etc.
I struggle walking along those planks to get into boats without a basket of bananas on my head :-)

Difficult one... The crop I'd like better but it also reveals unsharpness and the colours are rather harsh... Did you use a filter?

Thanks Peewee.

I like that crop.  I'd probably clone out the bit of tiller that's protruding in from the left.  It's interesting how one often find good pictures inside of other pictures.

Sharpness.  Remember that you cropped down from a reduced size file so you didn't have a lot of pixels with which to work.  I'll try to go back tonight and do that crop from the original file.

Colors/filter.  I've quit using filters except for polarizers.  This entire trip I didn't encounter bright enough sun to call for using a filter.  As for the color - the K100D produces high saturation Jpegs.  I set the in-camera saturation down to more "acceptable" levels but I'm not sure that it didn't get reset at some point.  I need to check that in the EXIF data.

Since posting this shot I've become more aware of over-saturated shots and started cranking down down the saturation when editing if it seems to be called for.

Anyway - good observations.  Thanks again.

Here ya go.  Cropped from the original.  Cloned out the tiller.

I checked the EXIF and I had saturation dialed down in-camera.  For this version I pulled it down some more.

I like the way you've captured everything in contaxt here - that works well for me, I wonder whether getting in closer would have made us feel more part of the scene rather than observers though. Perhaps I've been reading Luko's stuff too long though ;)

I like PeeWee's crop though - more dynamic I think.

Just a clarification...  PeeWee's crop vs. the original or his crop vs. my crop?

BTW, did I mention that I like both cropped and non-cropped about the same?  I do feel more 'involved' with the cropped version.  Feel like I'm taking in the scene more with the non-cropped.  I feel like I better understand what life is like when I get the extra information.

I like your crop Bob, but there is so much going on in the original as well. Its busy but i think it takes a snapshot of life rather o the river rather well.
