It's an interesting treatment, but the top of the frame is blown out (overexposed).  I don't think anything would be lost by cropping it away.

I think it would have been a better shot had you gotten a bit lower and focused on the foremost onions, letting OOF run from there to the back of the frame.  

Perhaps shooting from more of an angle would have been better.  Letting the image carry ones eye toward one corner seems to be stronger than from front to back.  Don't know why.

Thanks Bob. I was looking at this one for a while wondering how it could be better. Taking the shot from ground level would have been great.

Conversely I find the crop too hard on Bob's revision - if the white sky is bothersome, perhaps B&W would be a better bet, there are certainly enough textures here for it to work IMO. If you fancy a little PS challenge you could always replace the sky with a blue one ;)
