I think I shot this one along the same row of market vendors as Animesh's "Woman with Mirror".

My shot was actually from Vientiane although I've also got photos from this market in Luang Prabang.  Photography at local markets in SEA is very rewarding.  It really helps capture the essence of a town or city - much more than shots of monuments or temples.  Luang Prabang was full of tourists when I was there in October.  Yet I hardly saw any during my daily walk around the morning market.

Anyway, nice shot.

My mistake.  My shot is also from Vientiane.  I'm on my way back to correct the notes as soon as I finish this.

I'm pretty sure that I remember your subject and her stall was just right of where I took my shot.

The old market in LP has been moved from the temple area and the new market isn't nearly as attractive.  I got some excellent shots in the Vientiane market and am working up a gallery of them (when I finish my "Thai women" and Sleepers galleries).

There is a pedestrianised street that runs south from the outer wall of the city museum/old palace for about 1km.  there is still a great local market held there daily.  lots of jungle delicacies - roasted bats, bits of snakes etc...  i agree the new market looks awful.  still, all in the name of progress i guess....

think i might have framed that one a bit closer, and have her sort of encircling her produce?

Good eye A.  I think you saw it.

(I think this version might be a little less rich.  But I like the crop a lot better.  Bet I'd have taken something like this version if I had been using a longer lens.)
