You need to watch your exposure.  Take a good look at the forehead of the girl on the left and the white part of her jacket.

If you're using a digital camera try setting your exposure value (EV) down a bit, say EV = -0.6.  The auto metering system in this case adjusted for all the dark foliage and the overexposure blew out the lightest areas.

If you underexpose a little you have a good chance of pulling some details from the darker/shadow areas but if you overexpose and blow out parts then there is almost nothing you can do.

Thanks, Bob.  I am still trying to learn how to use my digital camera.  It is a Konica Minolta 6.0.  The book that came with it does not give any instruction for the settings so it is pretty much trial and error.  Im not even sure what all the symbols for the different settings mean, but I'll figure it out eventually.  Also I want to put my camera type on the photo note so people know what I'm taking a pic with, but for some reason I can't get the computer to except it or post it.  Any suggestions.  Thanks for always commenting on my pics, I hope I can be halfway decent at this one day. Hi Jasmine,

What software are you using to prep your pictures?  If you are using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements then don't use "Save for Web".  That strips the EXIF data from the file.  Use "Save As" and give the edited version a new name.

As for getting "halfway decent", you're already there.  Now comes the hard part that we all face - getting better....  ;o)
