| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #1 August 1st 2006 14:50:34 | I really like the composition on this one. The bridge enters on the right side and leads ones eye across and to the back of the frame. The reflected lights cause one to look up and down in the frame. Some nice subtle color on the left side. I tried a few things. I used the Skew took to level the waterline while holding the reflections vertical. I cropped off some of the sky and cloned out the one bright spot. (A planet?) And I sharpened. I would expect a bit more detail from an excellent lens such as you used and since you used a tripod. Any chance that at f22 you've moved past the sweet spot for that lens? |

And maybe more than you want to know ( ;o) but here's a lot of info on diffraction problems with stopped down lenses. http://www.normankoren.com/Tutorials/MTF1A.html#diffraction | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Justin Watson (Justin) Msg: #5 August 3rd 2006 05:13:45 | Thanks bob i'll have a read.... I know around f16 is where you get the star effect from the lights. This lens performs fantastically at 1.7 :-) but i wasn't even remotely happy with the results for this shot. Anyway got to go take some more photos, just got the pentax 18-55 to replace the sigma 18-50 that comes with Australian sold pentax cameras.... | |||||||||||||||||||||
