I'd try darkening the background a bit to make the main subjects stand out a bit more. And, being very picky, there's the bit of blue in the lower left. Maybe desaturate a bit? (I'd give you an edited version but I've got a 'too bright room' at the moment. Later if someone doesn't beat me to it.) A bit of a Photographers Note would be nice. Almost a requirement with a title like "Virgin Festival". ;o) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #2 June 14th 2005 11:45:22 | Hi Brad. First Re-edit that I've done on one of your images so let me give you a bit of explanation. My re-edits are 'quick and dirty' - I don't take the time to do 'the best possible job', I'm just trying to present an idea. If the approach appeals to you then you can go back to the original file and do the heavy lifting. And I tend to edit a bit 'heavy' - over darken, over lighten a bit at times to make the difference more obvious. You need to find the adjustment level that best please you. This image. I selected the background and darkened. Then I inverted the selection and sharpened your subjects a bit. I also used the 'burn brush' to darken the railing (?) in the lower left. |

| Andy Leach (RedAndy) Msg: #3 June 14th 2005 16:52:13 | Hi Brad, Wonderful image - I'd love to know what it is they're looking at there and the story of the photo. Great colours and facial expressions - you seem to have really captured a feeling. I did a quick re-edit too. It's pretty similar to Bob's. The original seemed a little too white, as if it had a very light haze over the surface so I wanted to reduce that - it's probably due to a difference in our monitors, but I think mine is pretty close to correct ( feel free to argue :-) Here's what I did: sharpened the entire image, desaturated the yellow and the red a little and increased the green. The leg(?) on the right hand edge was a minro distraction so I cloned over it using the dark of the sari above - with more care and attention it could be done a bit more successfuly. Finaly I reduced the yellow of the little girl on the left, I'm not sure if that was a sucess or not, it seems to have gone a little bit grey. I have a feeling that I used levels on the entire image as well but I can't remember as I did it last night and am only posting it now. This photo just makes me smile - nice job. Now give us the story ;o) |
