| Peter A (Peter) Msg: #1 July 31st 2006 14:14:08 | this is a beautiful image. I like the dark 'minor key' colors (i don't know the visual term that would describe them). The silver lining of the one cloud jumps out at my eyes. Maybe try cutting down some of the noise. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #3 August 1st 2006 15:05:03 | I'm assuming that the 'noise' is something that Cameron introduced to the image. It looks to me somewhat like an older painting on which the varnish coating has cracked. Cameron, it would be nice if you were to include a statement of what you are trying to produce and what tweaks you have made. Clearly you aren't going for photo realism, and that is absolutely fine. We might be able to give you better feedback if we understood your intentions. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Cameron Karsten (cam2yogi) Msg: #4 August 2nd 2006 00:43:02 | The effect was the desired old, cracked feel to the image, more a painting found in the attic of Grandpa's then anything else. As to what I did to the manipulation, I set in a sepia tone and completely contorted the tones and the highlights and shadows. To produce the graininess...I fuddle with what I had with the program I am using, Aperture Pro. It's always an experimentation, and often the results are spontaneous and unplanned as the shot itself. | |||||||||||||||||||||

You can shoot it, make it B&W, boost the contrast, and then use that image as a layer to create a cracked varnish effect. | |||||||||||||||||||||
