INtriguing shots.  It feels surreal, again...the feeling passed through as though I were likewise waiting for my delayed flight.  I'm curious, how did you attain the deep contrasts of light?  As though you spotlighted your main subject and kept the rest of the hall dark?

I like this one alot. Your waiting series are all very impressive, except for the bag handles i don't like :-) just my opinion of course.......

Its great to think you turned a weather layover into a collection of nice photos!!!

Just chiming in to say that I agree with Justin on your "Waiting" series.  Interesting shots.  I like the slightly 'unreal' feel that you got.

Thanks for the comments, y'all.  As to the surreal and unreal effect of the pics, all I have to say is this:  An airport with no power and thousands of stranded passangers sitting under generator lights in 100+ degree conditions is both surreal and unreal.  The pics look pretty much exactly like what I saw.  As to the spotlight effect, that group of people was sitting under one of the only lights available, and was cacooned in the darkness of baggage claim.  A flash would have ruined what I was trying to get, so I opted for longer shutter speeds most of the time.  This accounts for the colors and contrasts on the one hand, but also for the lack of sharpness in some of the images on the other.  Of all the Waiting images, this one is likely my favorite.  The woman in the pink managed to stay still for a long time, thus making a nicely placed sharp focal point for the image.  I also think the whole line of seated peoiple fits in nicely against the blurred sea of motion that surrounds them...that's what jumped out at me when I was looking for images.  I cropped out a flourescent light that used to be at the very top middle of the image.
