The way that is framed leaves me wanting more. I get the "No Shoes, No Service" notice, but what does the other sign say? What's hidden behind the door? What is being advertised on the right? I suppose you could have shot this in landscape mode rather than portrait and revealed the answers. But that might have made the image less interesting. Technically I'd like to see a tiny bit more on the left, show a bit of the door trim. And some perspective straightening. Then if you were to use the Shadow/Highlight tool and a bit of contrast adjustment you could make the image a bit less dull (but the dreary nature may help the story). | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Peter A (Peter) Msg: #2 June 10th 2006 15:16:35 | Th thing that bothered me most about this one was the general darkness/unbrightness to it. I think the shabby building, the mess around the sign and the neglected christmas lights convey a good impression. I definitly see what you are saying about the other signage...a landscape perspective would capture all of the signs while still allowing the We Support Our Troops to dominate. As i briefly framed this shot from the passanger seat of my friend's car, I wanted to get the entire doorframe in, but realized that I was too close...needless to say, we didn't stop so I could get out. I would also have liked to get the bottom of the door/top of the landing. The more I look at this shot, the more my eyes are drawn back to the cut-off door. As far as photoshopping goes, I dont have the program. I do any minor tinkering with what I can get out of Google Picasa, or the Canon program that came with this camera...I'd like to graduate up to Photoshop at some point though. Thank you for your reply and all the info... | |||||||||||||||||||||
