Lots of places along there are pretty jumbled up aren't they? The sky is over exposed. This would have been a good time to have been bracketing. I think a less exposed frame would have served you better. I tried pulling a little more detail out of the brightest portions. Not sure that I did that much. |

It was the first time I'd traveled it and it's a fantastic, easy way to get across town. This is a color shot that I turned b&w. The sky is over exposed, but it was also very grey and overcast that day. Not sure what to do in that scenerio.
| Bob Wallace (BobTrips) Msg: #3 April 23rd 2006 14:40:30 | If you had underexposed the shot (turn down the EV and bracket in tough lighting situations) you stand a good chance of being able to pull detail from the shadow areas. There's no chance of getting detail from a blown out part of a frame. When I'm out in daylight conditions I generally set my camera to -0.3 EV and auto bracket at 0.3. That gives me shots at 0.0, -0.3, and -0.6. I often find the -0.3 and -0.6 more usable than what the camera would have taken had I not underexposed and bracketed. Suggest you go out on a bright day and shoot some bright sky/deep shadows and find the best settings for your camera. -- I always stay in the Siam Square area when I'm in BKK and the canal boat is just a couple blocks away from my guest house. Great way to go to the temple area. And only 8 (5?) baht. Have you ridden it further east than Siam Square? If so, what's that like? How far does it go? -- Your picture. I tried cropping out the over exposed sky but didn't find a pleasing place. You might replace the white area with a reasonable shade of grey. | |||||||||||||||||||||

I may try your suggestion of more grey in the sky. As for the canal, we took it from Asoke (Sukhumvit soi 21-didn't go any further east than that), all the way over to the Wat Saket stop and back-it's about 18 baht for the whole trip, including switching boats midway. Next time, I want to go down some of the smaller canals in Thonburi.
