Good family portrait. You got the exposure and focus and caught a good moment. Nice expressions in your subjects.

I tried a couple of things. First, I cropped away the 'bit of person' on the left. The I worked a bit on color/contrast. Seems to me that there's a blue cast on the photo. I did a 'color cast' acjustment in PSE, dropped the brightness some, and boosted contrast. I'm not sure that I've got the skin tones where they ought to be, but enough to give you an idea. As a last step I sharpened.

The skins tones look fine, I think it brings out Dad's facial features a bit better. Quite an improvement overall.
