This is a finished version of one of my favourite photos. I'm posting the original too and wondered what other people would have done to it.

Here's my colour version.

What I did using the Gimp
  • Cropped to a panoramic
  • Did levels and felt the image gained some depth
  • Did colours and added yellow and red to the highlights, green and red to the shadows, left the midtones alone.
  • Saturated to 20
  • Cropped some more off the right to try and focus more on me and where I'm looking
  • rubber stamped and smudged the tussock out of the image ( Photoshops healing tool would have made a better job of it )
  • resized to 800px wide and saved to 85% quality ( I think )

It came out okay, but I think I prefer the original. This version seems to lack soul somehow.

I like what you've done with the cropping and removing the clump of grass on the far left.

I like the sepia color better.  There's not a lot of interesting color in the last version.  In the sepia version I get dragged into the feel of sunrise on a cool morning in the wilds.

(Wish I could see the original as I type this.  Need a re-work of this function.)

Agreed, I think my rework missed most of the point of Ali's colour version. The image got very grainy when I tried to push it too far so I stopped in bland land.

Sticking with the sepia but using the new crop and removing the tussock. This looks stronger than the original IMO. Thanks - this workshop worked very well for me!

I agree.  The cropping and grass removal helps.  And now we see more of your face, which I like.

OK, post some more pics.  Let's get busy here!  ;o)
