Father and son fishing from a coracle in the Tungabhadra River.

The father would lay the net as the son rowed.  Then the father would smash a pole against the surface of the water to scare the fish into swimming into the seine.

Playing here - not sure if this improves the image any.

I wondered how it would work as a panorama, and how it would be in B&W - so this is how it is as both.

Could have been two edits really.

Looks like the uploaded version has been sharpened already?

do you have the original from the camera available? - would be interesting to see what you did to get to this stage.

Here's the original.  Downsized to 1200 pixels wide, otherwise unchanged.

Mostly I cropped a bit off the top and bottom.  I liked the look of the bright green corner area.  It seemed to anchor the image.

The B&W is interesting.  Thanks.

I think it would work better if the image weren't so heavily cropped.  The stems of grass in the lower right just add noise  for me.  A shot where the bank wasn't included might work much better.  (And I shot a lot of frames of these guys.)

Yeah - without the bank would work better for me  - could you upload a shot without the bank? - I'd like to try a B&W high contrast edit - but with the reflection of the boat and crew also.

Here's a 1200 pixel wide version of 2828 as it came from the camera.

It's ended up a little small, I really wanted to focus attention on the subject matter, the coracle and fishermen.

Masked off the boat and occupants, copied. Made the background black white high contrast, pasted the boat back in - set slightly transparent to let the contrast come through and keep subtle. Had fun playing with this...

If I had more time I'd make the mask tighter and remove the slight glow from the edges.

(hit a bug had to double the size to get uploaded - not intentional for the edit...)

OK, think about what the shot is about - and then think about what it's not. The shot is about the fisherman and his kid and the net IMO, everything else us extraneous - hence this crop.

The only other thing I've done is Shadows/Highlights Shadows@15% to bring out a little of the shadow detail in his face a bit more.

I hope you like it :)
