Carambola, Starfruit.

The carambola is believed to have originated in Sri Lanka and the Moluccas. It has been cultivated in southeast Asia and Malaysia for many centuries.

Now I've seeen these fruit growing here in SEA - I can really appreciate this shot - getting the colours of the star fruit contrasting so well on the red background really brings them out.

Great color, contrast and composition.  Now I'm hungry, thanks, lol.

I was wandering through a temple complex (wat) and sat on a bench under a tree for a bit of rest.  Then I noticed that the tree was a carambola, a star fruit tree.  Interestingly no one seemed to be picking the ripe fruit.  Made me wonder if fruit growing in a wat is somehow considered 'off limits'.  Guess there's another question to research  on the next trip.

Sure was tempting to pick a few.  ;o)
