Tried a closer portrait.

Cropped down to the face of the animal. Dropped the saturation of the image, but increaced the contrast - trying to remove the blueness of the has.

Added in a frame.

Crop and contrast/saturation tweaks help. Possibly a bit of dodging on the darker areas would bring out more detail. (Or maybe it's this two bit monitor.)

Also looks like there's just a tiny bit of over sharpening when viewed full screen.

(Can we get a major trim on the 'Post a Reply' box? I'd like to see the image and a couple of last posts as I type.)

RE: the blue has.

Our has is fairly blue around here.  I'm seeing the vegetation as nicely green.  Are you seeing a green tint to it?

Perhaps over there in eastern Europe you're dealing with a lot of brown has?  ;o)

(This is very, very nice - being able to talk back to the other members.  A major step up from TE!)

Yeah - I overcooked it a little - a 5min tweak to have a real workshop - so I agree.

Removing the blue haze was probably a little ambitious - especialy if it is the normal colour of the has.

(I have some kind of typing dementia - I often type a similar sounding work - my thingers have a mind of their own - which is why the typo edit is so useful :)

I cropped a little differently, aiming to take the antler to the top left corner and leave a little room to the right, so the deer has some space in the direction it's headed. Apart from that added some red and green to the midtones and shadows and increased the saturation.

Shadows/Highlights 70/30 to bring out the face and tone down the background a little. Then used Paintbrush in Color mode to recolour the muzzle area. Finally Hue/Saturation Cyan -30 to remove the colour cast from the tree line.

I probably could have used Levels to correct the colour cast, but it seemed easier this way ;)

To be honest I hadn't noticed it until you pointed it out - the eyes of the Elk tend to draw my attention rather than the white patch, so I don't think it's vital. Might be nice to remove it for the sake of completeness though. Really depends on how much photoshopping you want to do to your images...
