| Ali Watters (Ali) Msg: #1 July 2nd 2005 02:02:18 | I love Prague, detail in every street! This shot captures the interesting roof tops available. On a shot like this post-processing can really work well - the cameras settings are set for quite a smooth uncontrasting image - which is good for the original capture, but on cloudy days the image can seem a little flat. With the revision I've cropped and straightened - 1' to the right, and removed the half flag/sign - captures the eye and isn't the subject of the photo. I've then increased saturation and contrast by about 10% - finally sharpened. Does anyone have opinions on the order of applying filters? does it make any difference? |

| Ali Watters (Ali) Msg: #2 July 2nd 2005 02:14:39 | Just noticed on my edit that the straighten was quite enough - 1.6' looks to be about perfect :) One thing I do when preparing an image for a client or print is use plumb lines, set up a layer above the image, and draw straight lines on either the horizon or down any lines that should be straight - the church in this case. I then rotate to till it's as straight as possible - it's easy to see even a 0.2' error on a horizon for example. Then crop the edges, hide the layer with the guidelines and export in the final format. | |||||||||||||||||||||
