Out of camera shot obviously needing some postprocessing. I'll add my try.

Heavy crop to get rid of the shoulder and some cloning to remove the antenna.
I really would like some comments on this pic and the way to present it best.

I think you've done a decent job considering the problem that you're trying to work around.

I'd try a couple of other things.  First, clone away as much as the blue shirt as possible to gain as much room on the right as you can.  The tiny corner showing now would be easy.  I suspect you could take it further.  Second, use the clone tool to get rid of the white part in the same area - just continue the brown on down.

I'd try to get just a bit more to the bottom if possible and experiment with leaving a bit more on the left.

You've got some great material with which to work but shooting people in the field just isn't the same as portraits and still life shots is it?

Here's what I was suggesting.  I cloned away the blue sleeve, white 'distracter', radar reflector, and spar.  If you zoom in on the lower right corner you'll see that I did a rushed, crappy job but overall it should offer some ideas.

Very nice job on the pic. I like the right part as yoú did it, just have to practice a bit on my cloning. The left i'll crop close to to headwear, about same distance as on the right.
Thanks for your advice. I'l post a redo when i'm satisfied with my cloning technique.

Cloning - zoom in very tight, you're going to need to do some pattern matching to get the best possible job.  If you zoom in on my 'quick and dirty' you'll see that I didn't bother matching, just went back with the blur tool and messed it up enough so that it didn't hit you in the face.

Try a couple of versions with the left hand crop.  I think the turban 'tail' is interesting.  Makes it different that the tightly wrapped turbans of northwest India.

After some reading up on PS technique this is my second try on improving this shot. Any comments on background etc ?

I think you did a good job on this version.  You might try slightly blurring the edges of your subject to make the transition to background a bit smoother.  (Just a guess.)

This would cross my personal line of a "travel photo".  It's not where you saw this guy.  But that certainly wouldn't make it valid for other uses.  It might, for example, be a more valuable portrait for his family.

Ben, you've done a nice job with Revision 3 - about the only thing I can see as a problem is that some of the hair edges aren't there any more. Sometimes running the burn or dodge tool around the edges helps, but in this case you were using similar brightness scenes so it worked well :)
